Harry Potter Hallows trailer - see it here

29 Jun, 2010 07:10 PM
Harry Potter is back in cinemas. Well, in cinema trailers at least.

Roadshow Films Australia have today released the first look and Harry’s final instalments. That’s a plural, because JK Rowling’s final book in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is being described as “a single motion picture event, presented in two parts”.

Think of it as more bang for your buck, though the studio is really just after more bucks for its bang.

Still, millions of Potter fans worldwide await the conclusion to the saga that first hit screens in 2001.

With this first look - well, second if you watched the MTV awards - there are hints for both films. The teaser trailer utilises footage from Parts 1 and 2 and is described by Roadshow as “an announcement for the final chapter of what has become the world's most successful movie franchise ever”.

In fact, the teaser clearly opens with a scene from one of the book's final chapters. Harry, offering himself up to Voldemort in the Forbidden Forest.

While the essential plot elements are known to all who have read the source material, the sixth film Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, from director David Yates, who also helmed the two final instalments, proved the filmmakers are willing to diverge from Rowling’s plot where it suits them.

The teaser promises an epic journey that will answer all unresolved questions and reveal the fate of our beloved characters.

And it also confirms that Harry is embracing new technology. In the words of the trailer:

THE FINALE OF THE WORLDWIDE PHENOMENON

THE MOTION PICTURE EVENT OF A GENERATION

PRESENTED IN 2 PARTS

PART 1 NOVEMBER 2010

PART 2 JULY 2011

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS

COMPLETE THE JOURNEY IN 3D

There you have it. Three dimensions of Harry. Two films of finale. One teaser trailer to rule them all. Wait, that's the wrong saga.

What do you think? Can’t wait for the 3D Deathly Hallows? Or concerned about plot changes and split storylines?

I cant wait to see the films, I only hope the directors have stuck as closely to the storyline in the book.I have read the whole series about 7 times and would be really dissa pointed if they left out important parts of the story to fill it in with stupid story lines of romance, like they did in the previous film Half blood prince. there was too much film time wasted on a story line about Ron and Lavender which wasnt even written in the book. Stick to what JK Rowling has written and you will have a huge hit.

Uhhh Potter mad - the story line about Ron and Lavander was written into the book. And was a major plotline for the half blood prince. It was what mad Hermoine jelous and got them together at the end of the book. In fact it was also a major talking pont for all the harry potter fans for years. For someone who has apprently read the potter books 7 times you sure didn't get much out of them. Read them again. You never know how much other stuff you missed as well.
