Chuck Lorre had his revenge and Nine had a massive ratings victory last night as Charlie Sheen was killed off and Ashton Kutcher introduced to a reborn Two and a Half Men.
Kutcher's debut in the first episode of season nine was watched by 2.29 million people in the five mainland capitals, the best result ever for the show in Australia. It was the top show of the night by a long margin.
In the US, it also drew a record audience as 27.8 million viewers tuned in.
The final two episodes of the Sheen-starring season eight also screened on Nine last night, with the first of them finishing in fourth place (1.44 million viewers) and the final episode in second place (1.73 million).
Further proving Charlie's sheen hasn't worn off entirely, the profanity- and star-studded Comedy Central roast in his honour drew an average 810,000 viewers between 9.30 and 11pm. In the US, the roast drew 6.4 million viewers to be the cable comedy network's second-highest rating show ever (click here for the meanest jokes).
