Alex Perry goes corporate

12 Sep, 2011 05:48 PM

The man known for his glamorous red carpet gowns and love of all things "expensive" is taking his design aesthetic into the workplace.

Australian fashion designer Alex Perry has released a 10-piece workwear collection featuring Italian wool suiting, skirts and dresses. As well as a nod to the 1940s with a pencil skirt and pussy-bow blouse.

The range will be sold in sizes 6 to 16.

This foray into corporate fashion is just one of the designer's many creative sidelines.

In recent years he has lent his expertise - and at times, controversial opinions - to the reality television shows Australia's Next Top Model and Project Runway (whose finale airs tonight), as a judge and mentor respectively.

Earlier this year he also announced a partnership with the Chrome Property Group. He will work as the creative director for a series of residential buildings which will bear his name throughout Australia.

This new clothing range will be sold at David Jones as well as his Sydney boutique in The Strand Arcade.

Unsurprisingly it is, according to Perry's publicist, aimed at women who like to look professional, chic and, that's right, expensive.
