Feds welcome ACC changes

16 Jul, 2010 09:38 AM
Federated Farmers has welcomed the Government’s decision to introduce experience rating for larger employers and a system of non-claim bonuses as well as high-claim loadings for smaller employers, such as farms.

“Federated Farmers welcomes the changes announced by the Minister for ACC, to introduce discounts and loadings onto business ACC workplace levies,” says Donald Aubrey, Federated Farmers ACC spokesperson.

“Federated Farmers believes that these initiatives will improve workplace safety and will reward those with good safety records.

“ACC is first and foremost an insurance scheme and it’s only fair that employers pay according to their claims history – just as they do for other types of insurance.

“The big increases in ACC levies this year have hit cash-strapped farmers, who face other compliance cost increases such as the emissions trading scheme.

“Federated Farmers also looks forward to other initiatives to reduce the cost of ACC and the need for ongoing levy increases,” Mr Aubrey concluded.
